Service Description

Do you have a child that learns best outdoors, moving and engaging with the natural environment? Horses are naturally calming and grounding to be around. They are mindful and aware of their senses and have a strong relationship to the earth. They also enjoy being part of a herd and enjoy social interaction. The herd invite 10-12 year olds to join them for a 6 week adventure to learn what it is like to be a horse. In that time participants will learn how to: - Be self-aware - Be mindful and activate relaxation - Read and interpret herd etiquette - Make new connections according to horses - Read body language and herd dynamics - Enact mutual social connection - Connect to the environment - Be a contributing herd member - Develop mutual connection and trust - Set boundaries and why we all need them - Lead from different perspectives and what that feels like - Care for horses and apply that learning to our self - Authentic communication - The joy of connection - Empathy and meeting others needs - Ways to ask to get your needs met - Ask a horse to partner with you - Deal with feedback - Provide a suitable environment for horses - Ask a horse for help with a personal problem of question - Ask the horses for help with a group problem or question - Unlock inner creativity - Setting a goal and aim for it - Partnering with others to achieve a common goal - Anything else that the moment presents! These will be horse and child-led co-created sessions that aim to be playful, thought provoking and relevant to the real world. Becci has 9 years experience in the conservation sector, 13 years experience of Equine Facilitated Learning and over 40 years of horse care and ownership. NO RIDING is involved in these sessions. All activities take place on the ground on a challenge by choice basis. A minimum of 3 participants is required for this course to run. We welcome those with mild anxiety and learning difficulties as well as those that learn best when moving. For those with moderate to severe learning difficulties we recommend our Confidence For Kids one to one sessions (technically 1:4 with the herd) where they the child's needs can be more adequately met. Parents are requested to stay on site. Feel free to reach out and ask any questions.
